Trust in wings

This bird on the neighbours’ apple tree

Reminds me of that saying about

Birds not being afraid of the branches breaking

Because they trust in their own wings.

That self-confidence is the greatest gift

We can give our children.

  1. Fi so beautifully said and your photo is of course, exquisite. My daughter is feeling quite confident with her wings, hiking and repelling at Acadia National Park in ME this weekend… despite the cold, wet weather:-)

  2. This is such a lovely photo, and the colors in it look so pretty with your pale mauve blog background!

It’s true that self-confidence is a great gift, and one that’s awfully hard (though not impossible) to give yourself later if it’s not cultivated by those you most trust when you’re very small. (My mother undercut mine at every turn (as her father had done to her), and the damage done still reverberates decades later. Sometime’s it’s not a matter of not trusting your wings, but not thinking you even have any.

  3. Gorgeous shot. I love this pic of sparrow.
Reminds me of how common they were even in the households, when we were growing up. We don’t get to see this bird now a days. It is slowly disappearing 😦

  4. An inspiring thought to go with a beautiful picture. Yes, we need to build inside our children’s hearts courage, confidence and the right tools that will help them spread their wings to fly and follow their dreams.
