The other day, my daughter came home from school without her friend
And so she had time to dawdle on the ten-minute walk from the station.
Time to gasp in amazement at the colours of autumn,
To breathe in the serenity of mist and mellowness
As she walked along the lake.
She burst through the door and said,
“Now I understand why you’re always outside with your camera:
We live in a beautiful painting!”
(All these are early morning shots taken on the same day.)

It is a blessing to be in a place as beautiful as you have photographed. I love the lovely colors of the fall and the pinkish hues of your photos. How cold does it get there ?
LikeLike
It gets pretty cold here down by the lake. When it freezes over, it’s like living next to a freezer. We have had minus 30C but that is unusually cold. Minus 20 or minus 25 C isn’t that unusual for a couple of days during the winter.

Ooh !
I am already shivering at the though of it. I was in Ladakh last year around November in an area called Drass. The winter had not set in yet. For me the mere 2- 3 degrees celsius was too much to bear. During peak winters the temperature drops to -40 celsius in the valleys and near the peaks where soldiers are billeted it is well around -60celsius.
Are winters as beautiful as the autumn in your photographs.. I guess you will be showcasing that soon enough.

Children aren’t usually interested in scenery – too busy “doing” to “look”! – but there comes a point when as they grow older, they start to appreciate it more. Your daughter will probably get there before most of her friends, because she has your example to follow!
