The Shard is an iconic skyscraper in London:
95 stories high (306 metres tall), it’s made up of 11,000 glass panels,
And reflects the clouds. (It was very hot, and cloudy when I was there.)
While I was in London, I came across the Shard in unusual places –
Here it is glimpsed from an alleyway on the other side of the river.
On my last night, the sun finally burst through the cloud cover
Giving me a gorgeous view of the Thames and the Shard.
For more interesting skies, please visit: Skywatch.
Though London is not my favourite place in the world to visit you did take some good photos of the Shard especially the last

Hi, I love clouds –and they usually make good pictures. BUT–your last picture of the Shard is AWESOME.

The Shard does have a habit of appearing when you least expect – but Old Father Thames improves everything!

London appears to be one of the very few places which has improved with modern construction… Nice captures!!

I only live about 40 miles from London but I seldom visit. I really should get in the habit of going from time to time.

London is one of my favourite places to visit when I return to England, though a few days is enough, but great fun! The Shard is rather an amazing structure. Did you go up to the top? The colours in that last shot look amazingly surreal!

We hadn’t booked, so we went up to the 32nd floor for tea instead. But next time!

Excellent shots… but the Shard reminds me of something out of Mordor. You half expect the Eye of Sauron at the top.

All three of these images are stunning, Fiona! What a beautiful building! The Shard reminds me very much of the Freedom Tower in Financial District of New York.
Love all these shots, but I especially love the second one. I love your composition. It’s brilliant! 🙂

What a nice surprise to see some architecture photos here. I wouldn’t want to live in an enormous city like London, but I like to see the architecture now and then. The Shard is a very impressive and interesting building. Great you could take a shot with some sun and colours in the end.

Gorgeous sun. Not sure I could walk up that building; if did could not look out since I’m not a fan of height. So tall. I’m always amazed that those structures can be engineered and absolutely amazing.

London has come a long way with these iconic structures such as the Shard and the Gherkin, not to mention the London Eye. A nice contrast to classic buildings! Your patience was rewarded with the last shot!

These photos remind me of the Empire State Building in NY which can be seen from blocks and blocks away and it is still commanding just like the shard.
