Just back from a fabulous week
In Baleal Surf Camp, Portugal
Where the water was cold,
The kids stood up on their surfboards
The very first day,
The skies over the sand dunes
Were so wide and embracing
And the scenery wild
When the rain came rushing in.

It is a beautiful sport invigorating !! but I like that sky that sculpts your pictures – beautiful

WILD. Untameable. And the camera loved it, obviously. Cannot help but think one Oscar would have loved surfing too. Am sure you all had a blast. So the water was coolish, huh. I checked the ocean surfaces buoys for Portugal vs East Coast of Nova Scotia. Portugal’s 18, 19 degrees Celsius rather balmy compared to 10 degrees between Halifax and Sable Island.

Beautiful beach. They surf on the west coast of Vancouver Island as well, cold all the time and some really dangerous rocky shores.

We always love the surf beaches ourselves – they are the best for the raw, rugged excitement. Love the way the clouds have got into the action as well – phenomenal photos as always.

That looks amazing, but the water in Portugal is supposed to be warm!

Yes – I think it’s warm along the south coast. The west coast is the Atlantic and unless you go to a sheltered bay, then those waves are pretty cold – around 18 C when we were there.

Yes – Portugal’s West Coast is famous for surfing and gets some really huge waves in the winter. The World Championships are being held there this October.

Hi ladyfi, those landscapes and seascapes are beautiful. Last May we went to a place here also famous for surfing, there were lots of people. But i don’t like water that much, but i enjoyed photographing them plus other things. I had joy in taking photos of waterfalls in the vicinity.
