Snow motion

May is a month full of the fragrance of budding flowers, the chirping of birds…

And of surprises.

Big, fat snowflakes fell last week

As softly as the petals of cherry blossoms.

They twirled and danced in snow motion for several hours.

Later on, the snow melted

Leaving the lips of flowers dew-kissed

And trembling on the tips of brave buds

Bid farewell to winter and ushered in the glory that is spring.

(Perhaps I can finally put away my winter jacket…)

  1. It seems the blogsphere is being covered by snow. It’s certainly the kind of surprise we don’t want to wake up to.

    But your shots are beautiful.

    Hope it melts soon.

  2. We had a full day of spring snow yesterday…resulting in about 6 inches on the ground today…

The orange flower is especially spectacular!!! Lovely Bokeh’s!!!

  3. That snow better NOT make a reappearance as I’ve cleaned my winter jacket and packed it away, along with the winter boots 🙂

But as usual, you managed to see the beauty in the snow, while I was busy shaking my fist at it. Lovely photos – fat drops clinging to the petals and those bright and defiant colours shining through.

  4. The photo of the orange flower is gorgeous! We have had some winter weather here too. I nearly froze at my daughter’s graduation yesterday! It’s warming up nicely today but I worry about my plants when the days are this cool.

  5. I like your attitude. Instead of raging against MORE SNOW you are able to see the same beauty we all saw when it surprised us last November.

  6. I’m not a bit surprised by that snow, FI – it’s the story of my life. My advise is to keep the winter jacket handy! That bright tulip is screaming for spring, though.

  7. Beautiful captures!

Even though it didn’t snow here, I knew that had the temperature dropped any colder the rain we were getting would have been snow instead. This past weekend we went rummage saling and many had winter coats, hats and mittens on. We are ready to pack them away too.

  8. OMG…the images would be larger than my screen size (and it’s quite large at that) if I opened them up more! I hope this is your last white surprise of the season!

  9. Wow, snow in May is unbelievable to me, but actually we have been experiencing cooler May than usual here in Nara. The snow scene is beautiful and the orange flower with dew drops, too. Buds seem to be constantly swelling.. soon you’ll be delighted in the midst of sprigtime.

  10. What beautiful captures and words as always! After a couple of wonderful, sunny days, we’ve been back to lots of rain and chilly temps. Where is spring???? Hope you have a great week with lots of sunshine!

  11. My winter parka has not made it to the upstairs closet yet..it is at the ready just in case I need it. Soon..perhaps soon I will put it away..and make room for a sweater or three. At least with snow in May..it comes and goes quickly:)

  12. There is a saying in Spain that says like this,
“Until the 40th of May, don’t put your coat away”. So true, ha!

Fi,I don’t know which of these photos is my favorite on this post. I love them all!!

  15. Snow in May! Thats just crazy, but then again I live in a place it hasn’t snowed in the last 30 years lol. I really like the macro shot with the piece of snow looking like a comet.

  17. Maybe you don’t like snow in spring.
The first photo, it seems as if petals of cherry flowers are falling. It is so beautiful. We call falling cherry flowers “Sakura blizzard”.
Soon flowers will burst into bloom!
Really spring weather is fickle everywhere.
    Have a nice day!
