Imagine if you will …
Cold winter sunshine,
An iced over lake swarming with dog walkers and ice skaters,
Temperatures well below freezing.
Suddenly, on the way home, we arrive at the little bridge over the cold stream feeding into that frozen, frozen lake.
It’s the only open water for miles around and the meeting place for shivering ducks.
And yet – it is tempting, so tempting.
“Will I? Won’t I?”
Why not?
It’s refreshing, very refreshing!
After taking the plunge, Oscar shakes diamonds into the air and trots home, satisfied with his long winter walk.
Life is so much better when you carry sunny weather in your heart…

You said that my photo was looking warmish. Well it was terribly cold. Every time I took a photo my hands were freezing. But thanks for your comment and have a great weekend.

I see that Oscar (good boy that he is) is waiting for permission to take the plunge. The action shots are marvelous – so crisp. This is a wonderful line: “Life is so much better when you carry sunny weather in your heart” Enjoy the weekend, Fi.

Oh, Oscar, that looks so-o-o cold. Brave boy!
Recently, someone told me Golden Retrievers have an extra layer of fat to protect them from the cold. That must be why our Lindy loves to go for walks when it’s too cold for my husband. (Minus twenty-something Celsius.)

Goldens have an extra layer of fur too. Oscar is a working golden so he doesn’t have the extra fat… but his fur keeps him nice and warm anyway.

Oscar would have died if he had done that in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, in the middle of February.
I love your narration of the events though. I was captivated.

WOW!!! He is more of a viking dog then my gang, I don’t think they’d ever jump in the water like that, if we could find water that wasn’t frozen!!! WOW, I’m totally impressed- or just plain amazed!!

Wow, that must have been so cold! But it looks like he’s having a great time anyway. Our dog Lady is supposed to like water (she’s part Brittany Spaniel) but she refuses to go outside if it’s even raining — and you can forget swimming 🙂

I know that dogs are more prepared for this than humans, but it REALLY makes me cold just looking at the pictures of Oscar jumping into that cold, cold water. And, you’re right, as soon as a dog gets wet he seems to suddenly want to be your lap dog! 🙂
