Ghost trees

Going down to the lake,

The trees rise up like ghosts.

It’s the hoar frost

That turns them into white beauties.

The little sauna house on the lake

Is snuggled in veils of white.

Ruby finds a boat

And balances on top (she’ll do anything for a treat)!

On the way home,

Ruby and Simmie provide pops of colour

Against the green and white trees.

When winter comes in all its beauty – you have to embrace it!

As you know, I adore Winter; therefore, these images touched my soul deeply 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing these gorgeous “nature works of art.”

  2. Hoar frost is SO beautiful, isn’t it? I have an old, old memory of someone (probably my father) telling me hoar frost isn’t good for the trees, but I’ve never seen any damage caused by this beautiful winter phenomenon, so that might be an old wives’ tale. So…I just looked it up, and it seems Dear Old Dad was correct about some trees in some places, but hoar frost is still wonderfully beautiful. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frost

  3. LOVE that magical hoar frost on the trees! Just beautiful pics. 🙂
We used to have some old Swedish relatives on a farm that had a sauna half that size. Was an exciting thing to come out of there in the winter when there was snow on the ground–LOL!

  4. Hello Fiona!
    Beautiful winter and great photos.

Fiona, when you are in Dubrovnik, be sure to visit Budva, Kotor, Durmitor, Perast, Herceg Novi. Plan for 3 – 4 nights
You will be charmed by this country. I suppose there will be no problem with the hotel.
    Greetings.

    1. Hi!

I’ve already booked four nights in a guesthouse in Herceg Novi. The plan is to take some tours of Montenegro instead of exploring only Croatia.
