Here in Sweden, we have a fifth season that I like to call Springter.
It’s that mixture of spring and winter —
With spring promising warmth one day,
Only to go back two steps to winter;
Then forward a step to spring.
You could say it’s spring and winter
Performing a salsa!

Ha! I knew it had a name! That’s exactly what we experience here in Saskatchewan as well. Have fun dancing!

Springter is a great way to explain it…. We had a mild winder until a week ago.. Then (after the flowers were blooming) we had a huge freeze…. Mother Nature isn’t always nice!!!!!
Great pictures.

I think Springter is happening in many places of the globe nowadays, even my neck of the woods. It’s a crazy dance that keeps the plants guessing and people on their toes. 🙂

We had that season in Mammoth Lakes too! Reeked havoc on the poor daffodils that were always the first flowers to bloom!!!

LOVE that, Fiona! That’s FLAWLESS! We too in America are experiencing the same Springter – the weather here has been both winter and spring combined – back and forth.
GORGEOUS photographs! Brava, my friend!
Have a super week!

Your fifth season Spring salsa, I will most happily trade for our fifth season Spring mud bowl. The mix of colour, snow and bright light showing off golden coat just shouts spring. Here it maple sap is running, drip by drip. For the last two half weeks swans have been migrating pass. Male Robins have been here for awhile and their mates have just arrived -romance is in the air. your pictures make me optimistic for a full blown blooming Shhhhspring.

We share “Sprinster” with you! Because of our high altitude –over 6,000 feet, we often have snow one day warm sunshine the next, in Spring.

That first capture with the snow on the flower is magical. As a photographer, I think I would like Springeter, but not as a human. I am not a fan of winter, so its return would not please me.
