Puppy love

Many of you know my dog, Oscar, and have enjoyed the story of how we adopted him four and a half years ago.

A few days ago, this sweet-natured boy turned nine.

He fights off snakes in the summer by putting them in his mouth and throwing them into the water;

He swims no matter how cold it gets;

And best of all, he knows that everyone needs a good hug now and then.

(Have I told you he’s more of a lover than a fighter?)

I want you to stick around...

  1. Gorgeous photo of a gorgeous dog. I thought snakes were swimmers. They are here. I can remember swimming across a river and turning my head to breathe to see a red-bellied black snake effortlessly keeping pace with me. Not a good memory.

  2. Oh that shot reminds me of my Belle so much! She loves to hug wood like that, but also our arms and whatever else she can get a hold of! Oscar’s a gem, that’s for sure!

  3. I can see it in Oscar’s eyes that he is THE dog around your place! What a beauty! I know he and Sophie would ‘hit it off’ on land and in the water.
    What a lovely photo.

  4. How sweet Oscar is! Your affection and tenderness toward him fully reflects on his expression. He must be considerate enough to throw the snake into water because he knows snakes swim well. He wanted to share the excitement being in the water. I adopted the cat from the shelter in July.He is such a naughty boy but he gives us lots of pleasure.

  5. What a sweet dog! Rescue dogs are the best, in my opinion. We enjoyed a wonderful walk today with 11 year old Spitz mix that I’ve had for 10 years. The joy on his face was just the perfect thing to bring joy to me.

  7. Oscar is so adorable. My Max turned 6 last month and he is starting to show signs of that famous Golden Retriever white mask around his eyes. They are more of a lover than a fighter but… I know that if there ever is a real danger, they will come to our rescue without hesitation.
