Rising fog

Winter took us by surprise, marooning jetties and boats in its icy embrace.

It swept the world in its freezing cloak of fog.

Fog that tried to escape the weight of snow, the burden of ice and instead tried to dance

To where the new dawn was spreading out fingers of warm colour.

It seemed as if the ice itself was soaring upwards

To hear the heavens sing.

  1. Such delicate colours in your snowy land and skyscape. I can’t feel my fingers either … it’s around minus 3 here in the south but hit minus 21 in Scotland last night. Keep warm!

  2. Gorgeous Fi…love the colours in that photo and we’ve got tons of that dancing fog on the lake here too…it’s spooky, mysterious, and beautiful…

  3. Your breathtaking picture and lovely commentary almost make the cold bearable. But wait, I just looked at the temp and it is seven below here with snow, lots of snow and the windchill is -20. This farm chick has to layer up and go do chores in the stuff. No thank you, I’d rather just sit here by the warm fireplace and zone in on this wonderful picture and poem. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

You have yourself a wonderful day and stay cozy!!!

  4. I was wishing for your camera skills yesterday. We had snow covered ground with the sun just coming up brightly, blue sky and a layer of fog just above the snow. It was so beautiful as is your picture.

  5. That is so poetic! The lovely colors are gorgeous in the photo, and you see them in front of you all the time … no wonder you’ve turned poet!

  6. Beautiful..Lady Fi I think you are morphing into a real photographer!!

I found four letters written in Swedish in an antique shop..they are not that old maybe from the seventies I think. I would like to mail them to you..so email me. I no longer have your email after my computer crashed last year.. The letters might be interesting..they come from Mockfjard Sweden 🙂

  7. Lovely! Last Fall, I commented that pictures I posted from here in Oregon looked quite a bit like the ones you posted. That’s not true of this season. I’m thinking I’d rather have yours right now. How cold is it? (;>))
