One of my favourite early morning sights
Was the old jetty
Stretching into the beyond.
(I’m away all weekend so won’t be able to visit your blogs.)

The dawn glowed apricot
And the moon hung gloriously golden in the sky.
Ruby loves jumping up onto rocks —
The higher the better.
Photo taken with my iPhone.

The lull between big snow storms
Is painted in clouds of purple
And blue that roll over the landscape
As the sun slowly rises to say hello.
And, of course, my poser Ruby
Looks good in that early morning light.
(Meanwhile, Simmie just prefers to run around
In circles enjoying the snow! :-))

It’s not often you get to enjoy
The Manhattan skyline with ducks (and a big cruise ship).
If you get up before the crack of dawn,
And drive to the New Jersey shoreline
(These shots are taken from Hoboken),
You may be lucky enough
To enjoy the gold of the rising sun
As ducks wheels in the sky
Over wooden pilings
Before honking farewell
As they fly away.

Mist has magical powers:
It can transform ordinary objects
(Here a crane on the jetty in Ericeira, Portugal)
Into classic suspense movie shots.
It turns a sunrise
Into a moment of purple-tinged drama —
And if it lingers all day,
A misty sunset can turn
Landscapes into paintings.

Have you ever wondered what a large city
Looks like before the sun is up?
I arrived at Hoboken Park at 5 in the morning
During my visit to New York
To bring you the answer:
The blush of dawn
Makes everything look beautiful.
(That’s the George Washington Bridge you can see.)

It was one of those glorious mornings
Where a blue dawn lay waiting behind the mist;
Ducks floating on a lake of velvet
Lifted the spirits;
And the whole world breathed
In and out –
Speaking of blue serenity.

Trees are like Nature’s poems
To the sky:
They take on the tint
Of a lilac dawn;
Even in the middle of winter
They surprise with sudden green
In the snow.
And deep in the woods,
I was lucky enough
To breathe in the beauty
Of abstract tree trunks
Looking like a beautiful picture.

The early winter light
Is all about long, warm shadows;
It’s about painting frozen trees
With golden lace
And transforming the sky
Into a wonder of pink and gold.

It was a cold Christmas morning
And the reeds caught fire in the rising sun.
As the sky spread its golden glow,
Simmie broke through the ice for a refreshing swim.
