Tiny beauties

A sure sign of spring

Are the tiny lilac beauties (wood anemones)

Blooming in the woods.

Bright petals

You can’t but help feel happy

When you see their merry heads

Nodding on the forest floor.

Purple and blue

Their petals become paper thin

In the sunlight.

paper thin

I notice a dry leaf glowing

Like a stained glass window.

These flowers are protected in the Stockholm region

So you’re not allowed to pick them.

I’m happy about that —

As their beauty remains for all to enjoy,

Spread at our feet like a blanket of dreams.

  3. Wonderful that they can’t be picked! I was walking in the park with a friend and some Lamb’s Ear had sprouted up. I remarked that I had never seen that and she pulled up a large leaf so I could feel it! Then she just tossed it aside. I was appalled – I could have just leaned down to feel it.

  7. And many thanks for these images. Perhaps Spring is worth waiting for, after all, but am weak an could not wait.. Your a good three weeks ahead us. If there is a cold snap and the lilac buds are killed off, it is hard not to feel robbed and violated.

  8. Hi Lady Fi, I am traveling to Gothenburg and Stockholm very soon! I am excited to experience spring there. This is my first time to travel to Europe so I am definitely thrilled! Could you give me some tips of what to see while in Stockholm and what is the best budget place to stay? 🙂

  9. Great looking flowers – the Wood Anemones I used to see in the UK were white – are these a different species?

Dark Side of the Moon is meant to be the first picture – the second one is by the same band!

  10. Oh how wonderful. When I think of Sweden that’s usually one of the first flowers that comes to mind (I was born and raised in Sweden, but now live in the UK). Beautifully captured!

  11. Wonderful photos of Ioveliness. I live in California. When I was a kid, someone told me that it was against the law to pick the Golden poppies, the state flower. I don’t know if it’s true. But, I didn’t and I still don’t, even the ones that are in our yards.
