Creatures in Paris

As you probably know, I’ve just got back from a trip to Paris.

Parisians love their dogs and you can see them following their owners off the lead in even the busiest streets.

Owners and dogs enjoy life along the banks of the Seine.

The pigeons on the many bridges of Paris

Are remarkably tame and pose willingly for photos.

This bird has one of the best backdrops in Paris —

Notre Dame.

My favourite animals, however, have to be

The stone gargoyles that decorate the many churches.

(This one is smiling at me from Notre Dame.

Like me, he seems happy to see some spring blossoms.)

  1. A happy gargoyle -who’d thunkd’ it. Must confess, I have known a couple, but I thought it was just me. You’ve proved me right.

I agree with Anyes comment, “Paris is photographer’s paradise”, your photos proof. I can’t help but insert, the world in it’s entirety is the realm of paradise -that paradise exists in real terms. That the good, the bad and the ugly has a place in paradise. From Stockholm to Paris, to wherever, each mile marker has it own distinct charm, imperfections and beauty.

  2. What struck me in Paris was the quality of the light. There’s no place like it that I know of. Your photos are wonderful as always and thank you for brightening my morning with images of my favorite City! Just gorgeous! (One thing I truly love about your photos is that you are never “cliche”!)

  3. Looks like you had a wonderful trip. Interesting that the Parisians seem more tolerant toward doggie freedom than we are in the U.S.. Having a dog off-leash in the city is a big no-no here.

  4. Such wonderful captures, Fiona, and it does look as though you had a great ,safe trip! I love Paris, but haven’t been there in a long time! Your photos are the next best thing to being there again! I do love the Parisians tolerant attitude — about many things, but particularly doggie freedom, as Janie wrote. Thanks for sharing the fun!

  5. I wish I’d had a good camera when I was in France. Oh the shots I missed! I hope you got to the tour of the chateaus (castles) of the Loire valley!

  6. That’s wild that the dogs walk around without leashes. I’d be afraid of the traffic, but I suppose they grow up being used to it.
Gargoyles are a bit creepy, but they are supposed to protect the buildings, I guess. Great shots! 🙂

  8. Paris looks so much different with a bit of sunlight. I was there a few months ago and we had only a lot of rain. That made the city look a bit sad and we felt unwelcome (not sure if that is the right word).
