The grand finale

It takes but a short time to go from a blaze of colours

To the soft grey pastels of November.

But autumn knows how to make

A stunning grand finale —

Teaching us that finales

Are also glorious transformations.

(Picture taken a couple of weeks ago. It’s grey and bare here at the moment.)

  1. Perfect depiction of autumn in this photo. Makes me wish I had taken a drive up to the lake on the Blue Ridge Parkway… Guess I was just lazy this year, but sure love your photo!

  3. The reflection on the water is so amazing! I love coming here. Your mastery of photography and minimal use of the perfect words remain with me for hours! So beautiful, Fi. Really!

  4. It sure deserved to be a grand finale! Here, grand finale is a bit later than yours and the closer it gets to it, the more beautiful. I love the way you say “teaching us finales are also glorious transformations”

  5. Oh, indeed. only autumn can come, provide the wildest array of orange, reds and yellows ever and then leave a mute stone grey behind! 🙂 I loved the post and the images. Many thanks.

  6. This is a beautiful shot… reminds me of water-colour paintings my Grandmother used to do.

  7. We have had some great color this Autumn. The Oklahoma wind is doing what it can to lessen it day by day. We’ll be very grey here very soon.

  8. Have been savoring your wonderful photos coming into my IN box. This one is particularly pleasing, since I don’t see autumn colours here in the tropics. Maybe next year when I am in Moldova! (Leaving Manila for a white Xmas in Vienna soon.) Best of the festive season to you and yours, Fiona!
