So, you want to know who I am? Well, you’ll get a pretty good idea from reading my blog. But, in brief:
A Brit living in Sweden since 1996. Came here as a so-called love immigrant.
Have got two small kids and good supply of ear plugs.
Husband is like a third child and the dog is like the fourth.
Blessed with an ironic sense of humour.
Scriptwriter, textbook writer and translator (Swedish into English).
THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT ME:
I used to peel bananas with my feet. (In recent years, you’ll be relieved to hear, my toes have become less agile so I have had to give up this party trick.)
I’ve got eyes at the back of my neck.
I lose my keys several times a day.
Learnt to speak Chinese, but have now forgotten it all. Swedish is my second language (after English) these days.
Collector of exotic diseases: dengue fever, amoebic dysentery, giardia, and many, many generations of worms – not once, but twice in as many years!
This is my first visit too, and I am astounded and amazed- those photos are too cool (heehee)

LadyFi,
I think you might consider “FirefLi” for a handle . . . your site is delightful.
I am intrigued by Zusak’s The Book Thief. It just got added to my summer list.
Have you read Terry Pratchett’s Reaper Man? Death gets fired, “gets a life,” and gets romantically involved. It’s an incredible love story woven into two other story lines. On my teacher website http://www.EnglishIsNotForSissies.org I have the pages for that story line ticked out.

I guess I’m a “love-immigrant” as well. Another interesting way I’ve heard it referred to here in Geneva (Switzerland, not Geneva, Swededn 😛 ) is dangling husband/wife aka one who follows there significant other.

Thank you Lady Fi for your comment on my blog, much appreciated. You asked if Kimberley has snow at this time of year – I don’t imagine so! The picture was taken four years ago during the month of April and the snow had already receded quite a bit by then. The town of Kimberely is quaint and has an alpine theme about it. I would love to visit there during winter sometime. YOou have an interesting blog – thank you so much for sharing. I am new to the blogging world and still finding my way around here! It’s fun. The “collector of exotic diseases” rang a few bells, too, although mine aren’t as exotic as yours (I think I’m glad). In fact, one chapter of my book (i.e., at the moment, my blog) mentions “Kay’s collection of illnesses” or words to that effect.

Hi Lady Fi!
So pleased that you dropped by my wee bit of a blog centering around my beloved Sophie, the Labradoodle. She is 4 years old now. Last year after a bit of coaxing I started this adventure of blogging her ‘pretty much’ everyday adventures. Such a great outlet for any creative minded person/dog!
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada along the North Atlantic across ‘the pond’ from you. We spend plenty of our waking hours either on a beach or in a garden. Sophie brings us great joy and peace. Labradoodles are plentiful around here so we see a variety of mixes a lot. I love their temperament with the silliness of a Lab and Poodle stoicism.
I hope this gives you a slight idea of our world and do not hesitate to follow by adding yourself to the followers list below my header picture(which I change all the time because I need to be creating all the time)
Cheers! from Ron…one of Sophie’s dads

Hello Fi, I couldn’t find an E-mail for you, so I’ll comment here. You mentioned you have Lightroom on your wish list. I’m finding it easy to use, though i’m sure I’ve just scratched the surface. There are some good on-line tutorials for it. I like the Adobe ones the best. I used Apples’s Aperture editing program previously. I notice in your bio that you do textbook writing. I used to do that, too, when I was still working. I was also a teacher. I saw a golden romping in the river today, chasing a stick. I actually thought of Oscar.

I just found your blog and I’m already a fan!
I was born in Sweden and I still have a Swedish passport but I haven’t actually been to Sweden in 20 years. I grew up in Asia and now I’m living on a Greek island.

I’ve been looking at photos from Stockholm online. It’s rather pretty, isn’t it? I wish I remembered more of it. I’ll have to visit some day … in summer I should think. Is it very cold for you there now?

Stockholm is a lovely city right by the water. It should be cold right now, but is very mild for this time of year, which is a shame, as I love a real winter!

I did not find you entire list of exotic diseases but I can brag that I had Chigoe and Cutaneous Larva Migrans. I have dissected bugs to find the organism that causes Chagas Diesase but thankfully did not contract that, though Dengue seems headed for south Florida. Enjoyed my belated visit to your bio page– Best wishes!

I absolutely love your pictures, and your beautiful dogs!…I had my beautiful golden retriever for 13years, and still miss her three years on. Will you be able to let all your puppies go?.. The scenery is stunning with all the lovely clouds too.

Whew! Had to scroll down through some one million comments, that I think because your images are inviting, very, and your Comments open doors and allow you to enter and roam . . . . Thanks for visiting mine, so I was able to see yours. Dengue, amoebic d. and more? I spend much time in the field, but now count my blessings, for I’ve not met those! Blog on.

I have been reading your posts for a long time, wondered why i haven’t seen this page earlier. I love your humor, haha, and i will try mastering how to peel bananas with my toes. I hope i will not mash it. I smiled also with your diseases, don’t know what the others are from but i had amoeba too. I’ve been to Sweden for a month and enjoyed it much, from Malmo, Lund to Stockholm and Uppsala. How i wish i live there too as a love immigrant. Thanks a lot for the posts and wonderful photos you give us everytime you post.

Enjoyed reading your profile. A cousin of mine married a Swede in Finland. They lived in Singapore the last few years. Not sure if he learned Chinese. I’m Chinese, from Malaysia living in America and trying (not hard enough) to learn Spanish. Life is funny, isn’t it?
Anyway, nice to meet you, and thanks for keeping the blog Our World Tuesday going.

Some of those diseases are no fun.
Having had Chicken Pox twice in my life, I know some of the others are a pain in the tush.
Cheers!

Many years ago I started enjoying your posts with the dogs planing by the water and I probably saw frozen river too without knowing where that was.. so this year when we planned to travel to Sweden I somehow connected the dots and thought to myself you had to be from Sweden.. your posts for sure had to be from Sweden and today when I intentionally clicked on your ‘about me’ page it made my day.. so you do live in Sweden.. I am going to scroll back to all your posts and revisit the sweden you have shared here.. much love!
