Painted beauty

Are we to paint what’s on the face, what’s inside the face or what’s behind it? — Pablo Picasso

I don’t know if there’s beauty behind this face, but I like to think there is.

Beauty that matches his brilliant colours

Where feathers are painted on with water drops

And the hidden hand of nature.

  1. It looks like you got right down and into his face for this shot. In nature the male has the brilliant colours. Not so in humans… thank goodness.

  2. Mallards are such common birds that it’s easy to forget how beautiful they really are. There must be a beauty beneath what we can see as they seem to get along with other birds, such as trumpeter swans who won’t tolerate most other waterfowl.

  3. There is always something behind the face – sometimes even more moving and spectacular than we could imagine. We must just have eyes (which you do, Fi) that really “see.”

  4. You did a marvelous job capturing the best of the mallard in this shot. They have great coloring but where you put the cameras eye is what accentuates it! Brilliant!
