Sunday morning. A wet mist hangs like damp washing over the countryside. It’s cold. It’s wet. It’s unpleasant. And no – the photos aren’t out of focus. The weather is.
As that old cliché goes: it’s good weather for ducks. Their orange feet are the only flashes of colour to cheer up the day.
What a shame that you aren’t here to share it!
Anyway, if you want to escape our candy floss mist, then head on over to the third riveting edition of Strange Shores: a blog carnival written by ex-pats. It’ll leave you shaken, and quite possible, stirred.
Yesterday was a glorious sunny day, of course. But it’s back to the ghostly mist today.

I love the expression—the camera is not out of focus…the weather is!!
That is a great tourism slogan—- Come to Scandinavia–the land of out of focus weather!

I’m not entirely convinced that the ducks like this weather either.

I love how you say the weather is “out of focus”. The duck photo is great! I love their green heads and orange feet.
We’re having a grey, snowy day here in Utah. I’ll think of you when I have my hot cup of tea. Stay dry!

I’m with Kelli- that was a great statment- the camera isn’t out of focus the weather is!!! Man, how many times I could use that comment!!! These crazy Norwegians have this saying that there is no bad weather, only bad clothing…..ahhh….what do they know???? ;-))

Hmmm…. we are having un unseasonably warm spell – it is supposed to be 60 degrees F and sunny here today. Not to rub it in or anything, but I think I’ll stay where I am!

OMG, it looked so cold and icy cold at your place. I wondered how the ducks keep warm. 🙂 Take care and keep warm.

A very descriptive and well written piece regarding a topic many have mentioned lately. I was intrigued by your comment on my blog about a “multi-cultural” background and racism. I could see that being helpful for my assignment in my writing class.

I am here. (A world apart, yet we seem to be having the same @#$%*!! weather). Love the damp washing simile.

Ha ha ha, out of focus! In fact when I look out my window now, I can see snow falling heavily accompanied by very strong gusty winds. Worst of it is, I have to get in the car to go for a hair cut in ten minutes! Or do I ring and cancel? …

Yesterday was a bonus day for us also. Glorious sunny weather, with interesting clouds.
Today, we are supposed to get snow. Againnnnnnnnn.
BTW, where is all your snow?

Love the line … weather is out of focus! And as much as I would love to join you in your dreary gray out-of-focus weather with only duck feet for color, I think I’ll stay right here! Hope it brightens up soon!

To all who agree about the weather being out of focus: let’s have a new slogan as Kelli suggests: Scandinavia – where the weather is out of focus even when you haven’t been drinking!
French Fancy: Those ducks are the local wild ducks that live on the lake. We have Canadian geese too in the summer.
Jen: Our snow has turned to lethal ice!
Swenglish: Long hair looks good on a man! 😉
Gutsy Writer: My comment is something we can take up privately via e-mail, if you like.

Today was incredibly sunny here but I walked across a small bridge and the water looked completely black. Black water, some ice and those little spots of green and orange on the ducks. Sunday was so snowy we were kindly requested to stay indoors… Also, two traffic accidents, one on each side of Härnösand on the E4 so lucky I didn’t have to go anywhere. Stuck in the middle of an island.

Very nippy where we are too but not as nippy as that! Are you sure the dogs were able to dislodge their feet from the ground? Maybe they were frozen in place.
Can’t wait to follow the link to the carnival blogs. Won’t tonight as I’m already way past bedtime but will be back tomorrow. Thank you for the pictures!
