The signs of spring

At last – spring is here!

Walpurgis Eve falls on 30th April in Sweden and large bonfires are lit to bid farewell to the winter. Hands are held and voices raised in song to usher in the spring.

Cherry blossom

Flowers peek shyly through last year’s leaves or blaze brazenly with colour to welcome in the long, light days.

The Swedes break out into T shirts, shorts – and happy smiles, blossoming in the sunshine just like flowers.

Oh yes! Things are definitely hotting up around here.

  1. I love cherry blossom! I never see them in Canada:( Also, the frogs picture is quite cute although I will never hold one in real life.

  2. So the loveliest season of all has finally reached you. To see the beautiful shrubs just bursting into life now is one of the best things ever. I drive and walk around marvelling at what is growing in people’s gardens (and wondering why my magnolia is so behind everybody else’s)

  3. Is that little guy the male partner? Funny, with lizards it is totally the opposite. There are these monster males and these itty bitty females, that it really looks not proper. Having a little male trying his best with a big mama, seems just right (smile!).

  6. Wow, what a contrast to see the blossom compared with when we were there end March. Spring …. love is in the air.
