The wild daffodils are like icy lemon bells
In the shadowed places of the woods.
Yes – it’s been a cold April!
They glitter in the sunlight
Showing off their cold diamonds.
Later on in my walk,
I come across so many gold and lemon
Sparkles as the sun bounces of the ice on a fence.
(No editing needed here – these are all nature’s own sparkles.)
And finally, Simmie ‘hides’ on the path,
Hoping to pounce out at Ruby as she passes by.
(He’s a silly boy!)

We celebrated the spring equinox
With snow and blue skies.
Sparkled from daring buds —
The fuzzy catkins
Looked lovely in their cold diamond earrings,
And the hazel flowers
Glittered in the sunlight.
Even though it was still winter on a spring day —
Those sparkly skies were beautiful and uplifting.

It was one of those perfect spring evenings
When the sun made stars out of water
And Oscar made abstract art
Out of water pearls.
On the way home, I turned around
To see my daughter caught in the fairy glitter
And become one with nature.
The setting sun
Threw its golden drops
On grass and woodland flowers
As if to say: Stop. Look. Listen.
