It’s the tail end
Of the Christmas holidays;
Mainly grey and mild —
But we finally got some cold weather.
Decorate the wall and window of the
Little sauna house on the lake.
When the sun finally showed its face,
The view was gloriously peachy.

A couple of weeks ago, we had a lovely snowfall
And I got to enjoy berries wearing a Santa hat.
The dried seed pods
Glowed like lace in the sunlight
And delicate diamonds
Glittered on slender stems.
Even the snowballs on the frozen lake
Looked like pearls.
But my favourite sight – as always –
Are snowflakes of joy.

Sunny days and freezing nights
Create March magic:
Trees dressed in frosty crystals
And melting snowy spikes
That freeze the face and cause delight.

As you probably know by now, I love colour and light,
But they are not always possible to find.
A mild winter means getting to love the pastels of grey, as soft as silk;
The muted browns of sky and land;
And the dance of twirling snowflakes
When an Arctic storm rages in.

We shall find peace. We shall hear angels, we shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds. — Chekov
And sometimes, we find all three things in one:
Draped in a necklace of snowflakes.
