Cone you feel it?
Summer is coming to a beautiful end.
End in golden hays (and a dog purveying his kingdom).
The bees make even
The humble onion flower bee-utiful.
Our walk ends with
A dewy heart.
Summer is leaf-ing – and so are my bad puns!

There is a narrow, hidden path that comes out
Next to a gorgeous lakeside house.
As you emerge from the path,
You might find yourself bathed in honeyed light on a clear winter’s day.
The light pours golden and warm
Over the hibernating bees — reminding us that
There are sweet things just around the corner.

May started off with a snowstorm —
But before that, spring had managed
To explode in glowing cups of beauty.
Wild tulips sprouted
Paper thin wings of petals
That matched the lovely
Wings of bees enjoying the flowers.
And on a still day, if you stand quietly beneath this tree,
You can hear it humming
With the happy buzzing of bees among blooms.

Flowers are happy things
And none more so than lavender.
It’s bright and energetic
Perfuming the air
With its fragrance and colour
Lavender is the colour of summer for me.

The warmth of early October brought out the bees.
(even with hairy legs),
With fragile wings sitting atop a throne of flowers,
And bee-draggled in the rain,
But still clinging onto the petal, onto life
Like a gorgeous jewel.
