Upside down autumn

I drink in the autumn beauty

Of upside down leaves with dog;

Of torches made of leaves

Lighting the way slowly

But surely to winter;

I sing the days of

Autumn’s glory.

Upside down sky

I’m living in a beautiful world

Where autumn leaves and skies are reflected

On mirror surfaces of the lake;

Where the sky

Is upside down in beautiful reflections;

Where trees

Are luminous in the water;

And where dogs

Swim in clouds.

Delicious autumn

I love autumn and the autumn skies,

Especially the fireworks autumn puts on in the early mornings.

I’m invigorated by the sky’s soft blush,

The flamboyant colours of the leaves,

The dramatic harmony of sky and trees and water.

George Eliot put it so well when she wrote,

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”

A coat of autumn colours

Oscar is our working golden retriever. He comes into his own during the autumn.

His coat of fur the smell of fresh frost and the colour of crackling autumn leaves.

A blazing sunset coat of colour that matches the floor of a silent, leafy forest path.

A glowing jewel – a ruby perhaps? – to brighten up the dusk.
