Postcards from Holland

As you know, I had a three-day trip to Zwolle, Holland, for work. The weather was miserable and grey, so I went hunting for some colour and comfort.

This hotel with all its lights (and bikes – the trademark of Holland)

Looked very inviting as I stood outside in the rain.

I found some lovely textures

In old buildings.

My favourite find was an old church

Converted into an amazing bookshop.

And on the way back to the hotel,

I saw some mannequins practising their disco moves.

  1. Such beautiful buildings to escape the rain. I like that cycling is so popular there and converting a church into a home for books is brilliant … food for the soul, sadly even in these most troubling of times.

  2. I love books .. my entire family loves book shops. Sadly, they are become less and less in America. ;-(
My son Sam, he found a book shop he loves to visit in Georgia where he is stationed until May 8.
    As always, love your posts.

That is so true, Fiona. I lived in Holland (Amsterdam) for a summer and discovered it to me a very bike-transportation-city. Bikes are everywhere!

Stunning photographs! I love European architecture. Beautiful textures indeed!

And WOW…the inter of that church/bookshop is so beeeeeeautiful!

Thanks for sharing the beauty, my friend. Have a great week! 🙂

  4. Lady Fi – how nice to see some different photos from you – more proof that your photographic talent knows no bounds! It makes me a little sad that the church is a church no longer, but at least it’s beauty has been preserved.

  5. Photos of the buildings in Holland have always intrigued me and I would love to see them for myself, all beautiful as are your photos. The porcelain hands in the window are striking. Well spotted!

    I wouldn’t mind a browse in the bookshop 🙂
