Year of the Dog

In honour of the Chinese New Year – it’s Year of the Dog –

I’m featuring some of my favourite furry friends.

Those of you who have followed me for a while will recognize my very best fuzzy friend, Oscar.

My dear departed Oscar

When he died,

Two more furry friends, Ruby and Simmie, came into my life.

(It’s not often I get them both in the same picture.)

I love the way dogs embrace life –

And make the most of what they have:

Whether it’s a snowstorm

Or a large stick.

We can learn a lot from dogs.

  1. Animals bring blessings into our lives. My 2 kitties are so comforting and got me through my husbands passing. A friend adopted a brown lab after his wife died and it has helped him immensely.

You are so right about that. And they also epitomize the meaning of unconditional love 🙂

    Thanks for sharing, my friend!

  3. So perfect – I have a new idea I am trying out – each night, I am asking myself if I allowed joy to overcome any problems I was having that day. It seems to me this is something at which dogs excel – each moment is about the joy! Thanks for giving us some of theirs today!

  4. This is a perfect time to post: Chinese New Year, the year of the dog! Though you mourn Oscar, you can still cherish the memories and have two lively furry friends to frolic with. Thanks, Fiona! (I especially like the dog & stick photo – super!)

  5. lovely shots. Oscar was a great poser, huh. I miss my Miss Molly. I never could get a good shot of her either, until she hit around 12 or 13. So I got just a few years of good photographing with her before she met up with Oscar. Love to both of them.
