Deep purple

One morning in late November,

Just as the ice was forming on the lake,

The houses on the far shore were lit up like a necklace of lights.

One in particular was ablaze —

What a glorious view it must be from those windows!

The sun rose slowly

Turning the world into a tapestry of lilacs and pinks,

Stitched together with clouds.

  1. Glorious view indeed, Fiona! WOW! That photograph of the house lit from within is like looking at a fine painting of a perfect Winter Christmas scene! Just GLORIOUS!

Thanks so much for sharing the beauty, my friend. Wishing you a lovely weekend!

  2. A Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your family, Fiona! Your photos are always filled with such beautiful light! I never see such a lilac color sky here.

  3. Ladyfi, I always enjoy the soft colors in your photographs. The second picture is particularly inviting with the warm glow from the cabin. The silhouette trees meeting (and its reflection in the water) the lilac and pink sky. What a gorgeous shot! I imagine it must have been a rather chilly morning when you snapped these images. Am I right? I don’t know if I could brave the cold even in a place as beautiful as this…well, maybe for a few minutes I could summon the courage. 🙂 BTW, you’ll now find my SWF contributions now on Thursdays, here, and of course, if you want to some more laughs you can check out Friday Sillies. Have a blessed, happy new year, my friend!

  5. Oh, I should have known…I’m so far behind I think I’m ahead.
Your sunset shots are so beautiful, Fi, and I must admit to a bit of envy because I’ve never been able to accomplish anything to match them.
But, I’m happy for you, and it looks like you’ve got the new year off to a good start.
I must go wake Lindy up. She missed her lunch, and hasn’t even finished her breakfast yet. She mostly sleeps these days, but she’s still a happy girl. She still does her little happy dance for one last treat in the evening, and I think I’ve told you, as long as she is still happy, we’re happy, too.
