A winter’s tale

Back in February, we took a trip to visit a new friend

Living on the shore of a large inland lake.

High and dry

Some boats were marooned in the harbour

And people strolled out onto the frozen lake

To enjoy the view.

Sky

I felt all buoyed up

By the dazzling snow and sunlight.

Buoys

Just as we were leaving,

The sun made a glorious spectacle of itself

Casting a golden glow over this winter’s tale.

I would have too, Fiona! Beautiful shots! And that last one took my breath away. Absolutely STUNNING capture!

  2. It doesn’t escape my notice that you used a Shakespeare play as the title for this post. Like the tragicomedy it is, your photos illustrate both lights and darks, shadow, and the glorious sun – awesome is the word!

  3. oh these are amazing .. the hudson upstate was frozen as were some of the great lakes but down here the river merely (ha!) had ice floes so we couldn’t walk on the water .. 🙂

  4. I love the business of seasons….how their twists and turns can untwist some knots in me,
how they stretch my eyes to seeing wider and more and sometimes they just do magic.
pure magic:) that’s what this is……THANK you for sharing!

  9. Love the wide open winter spaces and they look so good with the lavender blog background.

  10. Love the last shot! It is a gorgeous view! The lake nearest us (Pine Lake) freezes every year, but it has springs that keep the ice thin on certain areas, so everyone has to be careful not to fall through!

  11. Great beautiful winter landscape. I love the snow. Unfortunately, in the Netherlands had very little snow. The golden glow is very beautiful!
