Parasol skies

Late summer — and dawn is finally making an appearance again at a reasonable time.

Some mornings, sunrise unfurls like a parasol

Made of blue silk;

Parasol

Sometimes the dawn

Is an orange burst;

Orange burst

But my favourite kind of sunrise

Is one of peace and reflection,

A canvas ready for colour

And the signature of three small birds in flight.

  1. Love this post! I love this: Some mornings, sunrise unfurls like a parasol

    Made of blue silk;

    It makes me want to convex again with my mornings. I used to spend so much time outside, albeit in the city.

  2. Amazing how the morning sky can be so different from one day to the next… Even when it’s cloudy—that can also be a gorgeous day!!!!! I love early morning. We ‘walk our yard’ every morning —and love being outside that time of day… Great photos. Thanks.

  3. Stunning. And once again, a perfect title for your post/images. I, personally, enjoy sunrises more than sunsets. The quietude of it all at that time of day is just so different than at dusk. Beautiful share today.

  5. Lovely skies, Fiona. I know what you mean about dawn’s reasonable hour. We face east and I really don’t like missing sunrises.. but in early summer.. blech! Thanks for sharing the colours which begin your day.

  6. Perfect words for perfect sunrises. I almost missed the Morse code in the bottom image, it is easy to get swept away in the ‘bigness’ of such a photograph.

  7. Quite clear the observation: “a canvas ready for color”… I can see that… “sunrise unfurls like a parasol”… it must be a poetic licence… Sometimes I have difficulties with the correctly understanding of words… But I can see those comparisons… So nicely observed!! Salutari! Greetings for a new sunny week!
