Looking for light

It’s gone ten o’clock at night

And a strange creature with camera

Goes outside looking for the light.

Strange creature

She finds it

In the heart of a flower,

Heart

In the magic

Of sunbathing leaves,

Leaves

In a rainbow

Floating in the clouds

Rainbow

And in the beauty

Of her daughter’s face.

  5. I have heard the ‘white nights’ can cause sleeplessness in Scandinavia. Here in southern England we do at least get six hours of darkness, although where I grew up in Yorkshire it was more like five hours. It is good to see you put those extra hours to good use, Fiona – the light is so lovely!

  7. A beautifully illustrated ode to the joys of light-filled summer nights! (Though I must say that your oddly distorted shadow looks a bit like a Yeti or as we in the Pacific Northwest call them (even though we don’t see them), a “Bigfoot”.
