Silent snow

A couple of weekends ago, it started to snow

And snow and snow.

Blizzard

Nature softened her contours

As everything – including Oscar – was buried in lovely white flakes.

Oscar buried

Twigs sprouted snow cones;

People and dogs frolicked in the blizzard.

(Look at those Yoda ears!)

And afterwards, we enjoyed the silence

Of a fresh carpet of diamonds.

  1. snow or should I say SNOW was meant to be frolicked in. Pure and white. Oh, what a sound it makes falling. Thanks for these.

  2. Oscar applause, are fantastic. I love you.
I do not like winter, waiting for spring. Your photos, however, show its beauty.

  3. Oscar exudes such joy! I may have told you 50 thousand times before that your pictures actually make me wish for a winter experience (we’ve never lived where there was a lot of snow.. used to go to the mountains with kids and to cross-country ski and we’ve driven through snow on our travels, but never actually spent months in it). But then I remember that my bones and toes ache when they get cold, so I decide to just enjoy the season vicariously through your posts! Thank you.

  4. Oscar leads the way yet again – I adore the way he embraces his world with pure abandon. No human being can hold a candle to a dog’s joy when the snow piles up. That’s a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight. Can there be a more lovely place in the whole world?

  5. Beautiful images. A magical land. That second last image with Oscar running – that’s how I want to feel about life. Our pets are such mentors to us.

  6. Lovely winter scenes! I love the dogs, they are my favorites. Ruby is having a ball running in the snow, it looks like she is smiling. Enjoy your week!

  7. beautiful images. I love seeing everyone’s snowy images this time of year. Oscar seems to be really enjoying a romp in the snow. Oh how I wish I could experience snow like this one day. Perhaps I should start planning my holidays around it. Always a joy to visit you.
Have a wonderful week, and thank you for stopping by my blog today.

  8. Oscar is the star once again, he looks so stunning against the snow, and he’s having so much fun. The Yoda ears are perfect….pure bliss caught in one photo 🙂
I’m very envious of your snow….we’ve had none at all yet, but your photos give me a little reminder of the brilliant light and pure silence which come along with the soft flakes.

  10. Your photos are so inspiring! Last week Friday I returned from sweltering hot Australia, hoping to come in white snowy Holland, but no way! There hasn’t been any snow yet, only rain. Thank you for sharing your snow!

  11. Wonderful shots of your winter landscape. Our German winter 2014 is much too mild for snow so far – but the winter hasn’t finished yet…
…so let’s wait and see what we might get in February.

  12. Beautifully enchanting snowscapes. I love Oscar’s unbridled enjoyment of the white stuff. Nevertheless, am very happy to be in a snow-free zone this winter and enjoying the sparkle and drifts vicariously through your beautiful photos.

Oscar likes that snow! He can have «Louis’» share of the snow. «Louis» doesn’t “do” snow! That’s one reason he stays in coastal California! 🙂
