Snow fairies

I love it when the snow fairies come to visit:

Turning pine trees into candles;

Snow candles copy

Decorating reeds

With garlands of ice —

Ice crystals

And giving them hair-dos

Made out of spiky crystals.

Spiky copy

The sunlight filters through

Icy fairy art to warm a long-forgotten leaf

Filtered sunlight

And to remind us that we are intertwined —

Together, we can make

The mundane magic.

  1. I think we were walking in the same light this morning. I think the fairies switched us at birth. Perfectly awe inspiring are these photos.

  2. These images are stunning. You always take beautiful pictures but these are some of my favorites lately. I’m researching what kind of camera and lenses to get. What kind of camera do you use?

    1. I have a Canon 500D… It’s old now and has been replaced by the 550D. I have a good zoom lens that can also take macro shots.

I’m saving up to buy a Canon 7D – ah well, I can always dream!

      1. Thanks for letting me know. I want to do macro shots so it’s good to know you can do that with a zoom lens. Your pictures are always so inspiring.

  4. For all that I like the ice on the trees – I think the wire fence is the best image – maybe it’s the contrast between the made and the natural.

  5. Those are some amazing macro shots. I always enjoy the natural ones but of these, the chain link fence one is my favorite.

  6. Fiona you make winter worth while.

That said, despite the snowfall last night, I am still waiting for spring.

  7. gorgeous Fi… I think mundane magic, the last image might just be my favorite… the ice does not seem to crystalize in that way here… I suppose it has something to do with the dryness and incredibly low temps where you live relative to where I live? Anyway… these are really beautiful!
