Poem to heaven

The first time I saw this white wooden church

I gasped in amazement at its beauty.

It started out as a simple chapel built in the 1700s —

And then in the mid-1800s, it was expanded

And the old clock tower replaced with a new one.

The white wooden planking,

The delicate leaded windows —

Such simple and exquisite beauty

Iced with snow and love.

The lovely and talented RED has interviewed me. So, if you want to know more about me or my photography tips, then please do visit her and say hi. You can find her at Amazing Australian Adventures.

  1. Wow—love that old church.. AND—with all of that snow surrounding it, that even makes the photo more appealing… Gorgeous, Fiona… Thanks for sharing…

  2. I really would like to get up close and personal to the textures of it’s outer skin and layers. Did you? It has the look of a ‘sagdious lady’. I always view and think of churches more of feminime rather than masculine -would that be correct or proper?

  3. Gorgeous architecture! Fitting right in with your wintered theme. And I went to visit Amazing Australian Adventures and was reminded of some of the red themed pictures you’ve taken over the years. Lovely! Thank you for the link and the lovely pics here today! A veritable feast! cheers, Danette

  4. I’m so honoured to have interviewed you! Thank you so much for the opportunity – and for mentioning it here! Although it DOES seem a little ironic that it’s in a wonderfully icy setting when we are struggling through a heatwave with temperatures so far up to 45C!! I’m also endlessly fascinated by the monochrome look of snowscapes – so your post was a real treat on several counts!! Thanx again!!

  8. A beautiful church indeed, captured beautifully by your skilled photography. Amazing it has withstood so many Swedish winters! With the snow on it, it almost looks like an ornate wedding cake! I especially love those windows.
