Dawn, reflected

The Christmas skies so far have been white and heavy with snow.

So, I went digging in the archives to find photos from last Christmas —

When we still hadn’t had any snow or ice:

Just a beautiful celebratory reflected sky

And a dog who was overjoyed

To take a Christmas swim.

  2. That sky is pretty, but in my opinion, the weathered dock is what really makes those pictures stand out! I hope your Christmas was happy and that the coming year will be happy as well!

  4. I’m glad you dug these out of the archives, I’d hate to have missed them! They’re sublime. I think the reflection in the first one is even more intensely colored than the sky above! And sweet Oscar is very brave, as well as overjoyed… that’s got to be some mighty cold water, snow or now snow!

  5. To me, both, are magical mystical stirrings which are as spiritual as any Christmas -past, present or future.

By the way, have you ever looked at any of Paterson Freeman images or read his writings on photography. He is a kind of hero of mine since high school.

  6. Wonderful colors and our golden used to love the snow, and roll and roll and dive in it!! Oscar is always such a good model subject and the sky performs magic artistic colors for you.

  7. I think golden retrievers like to celebrate with a swim. Our dog jumped into the river and enjoyed a winter-swim, but i guess the water here is warmer 🙂

  8. Love these two images Fiona. Wow that was interesting, it certainly was hot at Christmas ( and still is) but imagine Perth being the hottest city!
