Looking for rainbows

Last week, we had a glorious rain storm. And afterwards, there were rainbows everywhere.

So, I took my camera out to look for some.

I found a string of glittering pearls;

And soft silver veils of clouds.

I even found the silver lining that everyone talks about

In the form of delicious sunbeams.

I enjoyed the dramatic beauty of the rain clouds

But no matter how hard I looked, I didn’t find any rainbows.

The moral of the story is: Don’t get too caught up in looking for life’s rainbows

Or  you might miss out on the beauty of its storms.

  1. These almost look like fall skies. We had lots of dark clouds yesterday, and rain off and on, but I did not see a rainbow anywhere.

  2. Your photos are absolutely stunning. I can’t pick out a favorite — they are all beautiful. Your message is also very valuable for each of us to keep in mind.

  3. Pretty flower, love the dramatic skies and the sun rays. You have a way of noticing all the beauty around you and capturing it well.

  4. You found so many different beautiful sights to photograph while looking for rainbows. I like it when the unexpected beauty is discovered while looking for something else. Great post!

  5. Cleverly put. Don’t get too caught up in looking for the rainbows – they don’t come too often. I like the moral of the story that kind of woke me from a long period of frustration. I’m gonna relook at my situation a bit now.

  6. Lovely post, great pics (as always)! Reminds me of Robert Frost’s quote: A person will sometimes devote all his life to the development of one part of his body – the wishbone.” Too busy looking for what is not there and you miss the beauty in front of you. -Danette

  7. I know I’ve already visited and commented on this post — but this time, I had my earphones on listening to a radio program … so I kind of forgot myself for a few minutes and just sat here watching your wonderful header slideshow. Until I remembered that I was sitting here because I wanted to catch up on my blog reading. So thought this would be a good opportunity to tell you how much I love that header slideshow!
