The angels among us

There are angels among us, but sometimes we don’t see them.

We rush past them in the streets, too preoccupied with our own lives.

Let’s meet a couple of them…

This man works hard – playing music for busy commuters on a daily basis –

And if children put a coin in his hat, then he serenades them with music and laughter.

You never leave him without a smile on your face.

A while back, another busker was sitting outside in the cold, playing his violin.

A group of children gathered round him, clapping, cheering and singing,

Their faces transformed by joy.

A lot of people saw just a homeless guy and a group of kids with Down’s Syndrome,

But I  knew that they were the angels among us.

  3. What a lovely angel…… and the Santa busker was a joy to behold. As he made so many children happy, I hope he made lots of money!
    Happy New Year.

  4. Yes, you warmed my heart today as well, Fiona. There are indeed angels among us! It’s just sad that they aren’t recognized and appreciated by more of us. Thank you for a beautiful start to my day!

  5. Lovely post, Ladi Fi! Where Is the bead angel from? It looks like it was inspired on some South African dolls. Wish you all the best in 2012.

  6. There do indeed seem to be angels among us. I don’t see street musicians very often, but I’ve occasionally been transfixed by the beauty of their music (but more often they’re not very good).

  8. A refreshing and timely reminder Fi, at the beginning of another year, when it is so very easy to become caught up in the busy pace of life, to slow down and observe and appreciate the non-material things. Thank you for your inspiring posts.

  9. I definitely believe in angels, definitely.

I love the word buskers. I never heard the term until I visited Great Britain long ago. The “No Buskers” signs in my mind were an invitation.

  10. It takes special people to see the angels, most are too concerned with themselves.
I never pass a musician, small or old, good or bad without dropping a coin or two.
    Sometimes just for encouragement

  11. Beautiful post ~ loved it! I love the musicians who play in the subway or in any public place they occupy 🙂 Alabama has a song called “Angels Among Us”. If you’re not familiar with it, I highly recommend you give it a listen 🙂

  18. Your are so right, and thank you for reminding us to see them. Doc’s daughter who has Down’s Syndrome was here on Christmas and a neighbor was here playing Christmas carols on his guitar…..the joy you wrote about was with us all.
