Bird brains

They gathered in a gaggle

Laughing and honking and flapping.

Time for their early morning beauty routine.

Preening in the mirrored lake

They seem to say that they know beauty is only feather deep,

But let them enjoy their time in the sun.

Oh – and next time you find yourself on a wild goose chase,

Just remember – that’s what wild geese are for!

  1. So you have all the geese! Last year, we were loaded down with geese, this year, they’ve flown the coop!

  35. · About your question… in the bay there was a tire. Inside the tire… the bay.
I know, ducks are prettier than tires.
Of cour, your photo is very nice.

  42. They do look as if they’re getting ready for a busy day and want to look their best! We have tons of Canada Geese here in Oregon. Most of them don’t migrate — it’s too mild, but every morning and evening they do a flyover just as if they’re going somewhere. Then they come back.

  43. Only a few local geese flying over now and then… not sure when the big migration will begin.

This is a great shot. I have Toulouse geese here at the farm and they do like to preen themselves after a swim. 🙂
