Indulgence

I try not to bore you with photos of my kids.

I realize that while I think they are works of art, you probably do not.

But indulge me today.

My daughter enters the world of double digits – she turns 10 on Tuesday.

And that is excuse enough for some self-indulgence on my part.

My angel, my daughter – so full of music and song and laughter.

Sometimes when I think I’m teaching her all about life,

I realize that she (and her brother) are, in fact, teaching me.

  1. Fi, she is beautiful. She positively glows with the spirit inside of her. I am sure that has something to do with her momma!

And happy double digit day? I remember this day for my daughter…. We went and saw NSync together! 🙂

  2. –Lady Fi,
I have learned so very much from my children.
Sometimes they tell me something, and I’m like
    “You Are Sooo Smart!”
Must have gotten that from their mama!
    PS. your daughter is lovely.

  3. I never tire of pictures of this beautiful child. Not only is she beautiful on the outside but her expression seems to reflect an inner beauty.
She and I almost share a birthday as mine is today though I am decades older.

  4. Nope Fi, I’m going to disagree with you on this one. She IS a work of art. usually when I see that a post is made up of photo after photo of someone’s children I don’t even wait for the page to load, and make a hasty exit. but not in this case. you posted only a few, which is so cool, and it’s a special occasion – her birthday!!! that smile is so full of joy, it lifts me up. a Happy Birthday to her, and many more. thanks for sharing LadyFi. this was pure pleasure….

  5. Your daughter has a wonderful smile and I must say, did you color her hair or are they added? Love the fuchsia tone. I am trying to remember my sons when they were 10, and no one specific thing comes to mind except being active.

  6. She truly is beautiful – happy 10th birthday! What a magical age! I always felt my kids were teaching me as much or more than I taught them. (Still are!)

  7. A very Happy 10th Birthday to your very beautiful daughter!! I’m quite certain that my four children have taught me far more than I taught them. And there can never be words enough to express the joy they have brought into my life and still do! Thanks for letting us share such a wonderful day!

  8. I don’t know. Maybe a book about stories for the kids about love and kindness or maybe someone could do stories about those kids…just something to make them smile with pretty photos/ art….what are your ideas?

  9. Your pictures ARE works of art — and you have a worthy subject here — she is a beautiful young woman (and happy birthday)!

Your posts are never ever boring. (I am trying to think of a way to articulate the difference between your rare posts on your kids and some of the “mommy” sites I have clicked on accidentally (and I don’t go back to those). I’m sure you already know what I mean though. Your family updates are sheer perfection!.

    Thank you for sharing

  15. Happy Birthday to your daughter and a wonderful day to you as well. I find that my kid’s birthday is quite as meaningful to me as it is to them. I will be at work and suddenly begin remembering something about them or the day of their birth. I keep a blog for them separate from my writing blog but they are never separate are they? Thanks for sharing the beauty of your daughter and this special moment!

  18. Thanks for sharing, Fiona… she’s a delight! Want to step into your beautiful photos and hug her. I know in my heart that you are a fabulous mother to her and your son. (I have similar photos of my niece, with the braids…;-) Aren’t they fun? She posed for me before getting rid of the braids, and it took us hours to untangle them together.)
