Winter gold

The snow and ice have melted away. The sun is shining

And magical light is flooding our senses.

But – before it’s too late – I want to show you the gold of winter;

The gold that goes unnoticed in autumn’s burnished blaze

And spring’s happy song.

Now, with the sun warming my face,

It’s easy to look back and enjoy the perfection of winter gold.

“I have stretched ropes from steeple to steeple; garlands from window to window; golden chains from star to star, and I dance.” — Rimbaud

  1. Such beauty…how I have missed the beauty of your captures and your words…our ice and snow has melted too but the sun hasn’t shined a whole lot nor has it been real warm…even though it didn’t stay for long it snowed here again yesterday. We are waiting for spring to come…in the meantime I will enjoy the spring that others are enjoying. 🙂

  2. You obviously live in the perfect place for you spirit. I am not ready to reflect on the snow (though it’s perfection is lovely)- I am anxious for the warmth of summer and the lazy days of summer! But your pictures are always beautiful.

  3. I so agree that it is only now when we know that spring is here, we can take the time to reflect on the winter. I love the colours of winter in Sweden – there is a really special quality to the light and you have captured it so well – along with the dreamlike landscape of seamists. Pure gold.

  5. The misery of cold feet, itchy layers of clothing, hair frozen to icicles and shoveling the beautiful white stuff for the ba-zillionth time from the walk is still too fresh for me to get too excited about your absolutely beautiful photos.

  6. Absolutely lovely!
I was just thinking this similar thought- and was wondering if I was going a bit crazy! Me- who has been lamenting winter and it’s blasts, now looking back and reminiscing it’s beauty.
Then again- that sun and warmth sure feels a heck of a lot nicer!
    🙂
    Just beautiful.

Thanks for coming over to visit Honey’s blog! HOpe we can be regular blog friends now! I have to confess, I’m not really into FB at all and hardly ever log on there! 😉

  9. Fiona, I think so that you catch these shots with a very good perspective because you have a sensitive soul. Impossible to meet you and to look into your eyes and don´t feel in peace.
I can´t say how I like your shots cause you know very well. Sometimes, I want to visit you more and more but I was living between Västerås and Uppsala, while I was searching for a flat and attempting to receive from UU a special document to HEIMSTADEN.
    Have a nice weekend, Fiona!
