Winter tropics

Sometimes there is nothing more delightful than bundling up in warm jackets

And heading off to the tropics! (Yes, I have a wild imagination.)

To the huge greenhouse filled with warmth and sunshine

And marvels of nature.

Where colours and blossoms run riot

With soft velvet petals sprinkled with gold.

Outside – the delicious cold of winter.

Inside – a festival of flowers,

A blossoming of the heart.

Love them all so much, but the last one is so symbolic and poetic…

  4. Oh, so beautiful! And yes, a large greenhouse is indeed a taste of the tropics. I have a favorite one in Seattle; the warmth and the scents transport me to another place every time.

  5. That is exactly what I needed to warm my heart! Anticipating the first signs of spring is like waiting for Christmas for me- and this was like getting an early present! Thanks!!!

  6. Greenhouses are one of our favourite places too! We could spend hours wandering around the glasshouses at our National Botanic Gardens – something very soothing about them that always appeals to Murray!

    Love your photos, as always!

  9. You reminded me that my boyfriend has been wanting to go to the local botanical gardens for two years now. He’s in dire need of being spoiled rotten, so I think I’m going to make that happen. Thanks!

    1. Those flowers in bloom are agapanthus from South Africa. They were blooming because we were in a lovely warm greenhouse!

Yes, my daughter drew the heart!
