Simplicity

Sometimes the simplest of things can be the most beautiful.

Unadorned they are poems to heaven.

Like this simple white wooden church.

White timbers from the 1700s;

A simple stained glass window

And the beauty of planks fading in the snow.

Hiding there, waiting to be seen,

Awaits the gorgeous beauty of imperfect simplicity.

  1. Really, really beautiful, Lady Fi. You’re 100% correct, too…the simple things are often the most beautiful. I love just thinking about the history of this church.

  4. Ladyfi, is there any possibility that I could use the photos for a collage? You know Charlotte is needing something white and beautiful for her new home. I’d love to try and “do” something with these photos.

  6. Beautiful Fi! It reminds me that we saw small churches with graveyards beside them for the first time this summer when we traveled up the East coast. That tradiltion apparently didn’t come west with our country’s pioneers, because we’d never seen them before.

    I love the colors that seem to show even though at first glance it’s so white everywhere.

  8. Thank you, ladyfi, for your visit and comment to my post.

    I love old, simple, and natural thing, like building made of unpainted wood, or uncolored stained glass. The church made of white timbers is beautiful. It merges into snow scene and creates serene atmosphere. I’m interested how it would look in other seasons when the surrounding is colored up with green and other colors.

  9. I love old churches and Scandinavia is chock full of them. When I’m sitting in them I think of all the people who have been in there before me, hundreds of years back…it’s a very special feeling…

  10. Through you lens I often see ” the gorgeous beauty of imperfect simplicity.” The pale colors bleeding from white are most beautiful.
