New Year is often a time when we want to start anew – and throw out the old.
But it’s not just a time for re-invention. It’s also a time to cherish the old treasures within us; to rise above petty things; to improve what we can and — above all – – a time to embrace ourselves with all our faults and wonderfulness.
Do you make resolutions at this time of year?
I don’t… because they go in one year and out the other!
Well said on the resolutions. I stopped making them a long time ago. Love the photo. Wishing you and your family a wonderful and Happy New Year.

I love looking at all the “old treasures” in my life, and hope they’ll come along with me into the New Year. I have no desire, fortunately, to “reinvent” myself in the New Year. A bit of tweaking perhaps, a splash of paint, and a sprinking of spice would be nice. I have some wishes for the new year, but no grand resolutions.
Wishing you a Happy, Healthy, and creative 2011!

If I make any, I keep them to myself. They are normally something small but something I’d like to change in myself, like a bad habit or something of that nature. Have a wonderful 2011 Lady Fi and I look forward to seeing many more of your gorgeous photos!

I do make resolutions but I don’t openly discuss them so much anymore. I think it’s good to have goals and the things I do talk about with others are changing things we can change..
Lovely photos…is this a church??
Happy New Year Fi!!

Yes, this is our local church. It’s 800 years old.

Not really. I think they are just something to cause stress when you don’t achieve them.

Hmm…. I am pondering a resolution even though I hadn’t planned it and don’t think I need it – I mean, you can start doing something at any given minute and stick to it – but it’s possible that I’m going to do this thing once a day this year…. Still a few hours left to think about it and get started today. I just might do it.

No, we don’t make any resolutions – we just look forward to the future and are thankful for all that has gone before and the progress made in previous years – we treasure that!

No resolutions for me, I am trying something new, a word for the whole year and I chose: Believe, I am curious to see where it will lead me 😉

The light on the church tower roof and vane is like an illumination, Fi. It seems to raise my eyes and my heart as well. A good image to begin 2011 – resolutions or not.

Not yet..I am still pondering what they should be versus what is realistic. In one year and out the other..good one..I smiled:)

I agree the old treasures are much better than silly resolutions.

lol! I like that.
I stopped making resolutions for a long time. Then I decided I needed them to help me jump-start things I want to do. I am careful about them, though, in that I set realistic goals and reevaluate as time goes on.

The ‘resolutions’ I’ve made this year are the same ones I made (and *mostly* kept) last year. Every month, I would like to:
* have a weekend away
* do something crafty
* bake or cook something I haven’t made before
* take a long walk
* write something I’m proud of

This is perfection and funny. I usually resolve to not make a resolution…and I fail! I want to learn how to play chess. I also really love the Emerson quote. That’s perfection!

I don’t make resolutions per se, but I do set goals and one of them I’ve already started on. Cleaning out my house of everything except what I need, starting with the closets. As each bag full of junk leaves the house, I feel lighter and lighter.
Happy New Year!

Lovely shot of the church roof.
Resolutions are stressful. Therefore, I resolved some years ago to stop making them.
And I’ve managed to keep that one!
Happy New Year to you and yours.

Happy New Year! About resolutions I can say:”I never made, never make and never will make resolutions in January.But when I make a terrible mistake somewhere in the year I promise myself never to do that again.”
