It was cold, sub-zero temperatures — and yet the air was so alive with crystals of moisture. There, at the end of the street, I saw a rainbow, which later on went to weave its colours into the clouds and skies.
Bringing to mind one of my favourite poems by W.B. Yeats…
HAD I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

I read a book called Tread Softly in school that quoted that poem. That 2nd picture is lovely – still you are like my polar opposite the way you actually like winter.

Well, if I didn’t like winter, I’d be miserable 8 months of the year… Since I started embracing winter and accepting it, I’ve really started appreciating it more and more…

Beautiful photos and of course you struck a cord quoting WB Yeats. http://www.lissadellhouse.com is the house in Co Sligo associated so famously with him – unfortunately having opened to the public two years ago – it is currently closed due to a planning issue/agrument with the local county council. Such a shame – the new owners had done a fanstatic job restoring the house and it should be one of the main tourist highlights in the west of Ireland. Hopefully it will open again …..
