Through frosted glasses

September became October and offered the early riser a perfect lawn of lacy grass.

Crunchy frostiness underfoot. Tingling fingers encased in long-forgotten gloves.

Footprints

The ghostly ground veiled in white offered the perfect contrast to the rich colours of trees and house.

Landscape

A tree laden with rowan berries – a harbinger of a snowy winter. Peeking through the branches, a shy farm displays its new roof of frost, as if to say: At last! Autumn is here!

  2. It’s gorgeous, though I think the winter could wait just a tad longer, I’ll take snow any day over rain…and the frost is beautiful to look at and usually melts later in the day…wonderful!

  3. Lacy or icy grass? Wow, frost already. It’s slightly chilly in Vegas, too, because it’s only 76F (68F is 20C). Brrrr! Beautiful photos of the encroaching Scandinavian winter.

  4. We are in the middle of a gorgeous “hot” spell, almost unheard of here. Some days it does rain, but it just seems like summer is grasping onto the edge of fall.

What great shots, you have amazing colors, and details in those photos.

And you are far ahead of us for color. Our leaves are just starting to turn now.

  5. WOW … lovely post illustrating how your seasons are changing. Here in Southern California it’s still warm, dry, and windy … I wish it would RAIN ;–)

  6. Hmm that sure is pretty, but it makes me sad. Coldness is on its way. The UK is so warm and muggy today, please don’t send that frost our way!

    Thanks for the visit.

  8. Okay, Lady Fi. Let me just say it. I’ve almost convinced myself that if I lived in such beautiful surroundings, I, too, could be a fabulous writer like you.

Almost is the key word here. Almost.

  9. Wow, I had no idea that Sweden got such amazing autumn colours! Or that it was cold enough for frost in October. I’m from Canada, and we have a reputation for being a cold country, but we usually don’t start getting frost like that in Toronto until November (mind you, we’re quite far south). The frost is beautiful though — it really does look like lace on the grass! Keep up the beautiful photos.

  10. One of the things that amazes me about different countries is structure colors. USA surburbia seems to LOVE drab. Tan, beige, white, and brown are the typical fare here, especially in California in the last 30 years. We are desperately afraid of color, apparently. My son LOATHES this and wants to live with vibrancy. And I agree. I want things to work and not be garish but my motto has always been: Life is TOO SHORT for BEIGE!! Love the house colors!

  11. How beautifully written and the pictures are so wonderful as well. Just a magical place. It’s definitely autumn here but we don’t have so much frost yet but any day now.
