Find a big sky and a frozen lake,
Get a couple of chairs, some friends
And a view –
Then sit back and enjoy the romance,
The company and the pink-tinged sunset.

February 13, 2014 at 14:06
Brrrr! But beautiful!
February 13, 2014 at 14:09
A rite passage of sorts, these images…….Am not sure many will get the significance of what these images mean to those who have gotten up at 4 in the morning, walked out onto a frozen lake, sat there in the cold, line down a hole and watched the sun rise kiss the horizon. If everyone could experience this, then everyone would stand on mountain tops to shout “nature is beautifully, I will protect her”.

As the intrepid hound faithfully stalked the wagon tracks of his friends, he thought “Where’s Clint Eastwood when you need him” :-)

February 13, 2014 at 14:57
With all due respect to the hound and some great photos. :-)

Really captures winter in these gorgeous photographs…why haven’t we any snow? :-(
February 13, 2014 at 15:29
A lovely apricot sky against the blue, violet and white of the snow…
February 13, 2014 at 15:40

Beautiful images with the subtle nuance in colors! I’d like to sit back in that chair bundled in the coat in person.

Another beautiful winter scene!
February 13, 2014 at 17:54
Such gorgeous light! I would have to bring along a portable campfire though to sit out there in the cold! Love the photos!

Beautiful images, as always!
February 13, 2014 at 18:15
i love the colors of dusk, last night we had pale salmon, rose, lavender and violet. One can’t help but stand there mesmerized. Lovely shots, but you say it is all melted, even the lake? We’re at least a month away from that. Right now it is snowing like mad – one half meter expected. sigh.
February 13, 2014 at 18:33
The lake is still iced over, but the snow has melted.
February 13, 2014 at 19:14
Friends and view always make for good company!

I love the photo of Oscar walking alone.
I wonder where he is going? I wonder is he is reflecting?
February 13, 2014 at 23:18
LOVE your header! :)
February 13, 2014 at 23:20
Looks very romantic indeed! Is ice-fishing popular in Sweden, Fiona?
February 13, 2014 at 23:23
Yes, people go ice fishing. But these two were sitting next to a fire just chatting.
February 14, 2014 at 05:33
The pink tinged sunset is beautiful – so romantic!
February 13, 2014 at 23:32

February 14, 2014 at 00:48
Very pretty, but a tad chilly! Happy Valentine’s Day!
February 14, 2014 at 01:33
February 14, 2014 at 02:35
That looks perfect. We get the big blue skies, but not the frozen lakes.
February 14, 2014 at 03:02
The perfect romantic thought and image to welcome in Valentine’s Day here. Enjoy your weekend LadyFi.
February 14, 2014 at 03:48
Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope there is hot cocoa (or hot buttered rum) waiting for that couple in a cozy cottage somewhere.
February 14, 2014 at 04:04
I would just die.
February 14, 2014 at 04:52
Beautiful scene, ah I think I’ll just settle in.
February 14, 2014 at 04:54
Lovely pictures! I don’t like to sit outside much in the winter unless the sun is shining really bright!
February 14, 2014 at 05:10
Very pretty and romantic..I feel like heading to a snowy destination now..
February 14, 2014 at 07:11
Truly a magical place!
February 14, 2014 at 07:28
I love the light…whatever were they doing? I think I see smoke in the air..cooking something or having a campfire on the lake. Still cold here:(
February 14, 2014 at 07:32
They were sitting around a campfire.
February 14, 2014 at 08:10
As always, ladyfi, marvelous captures of your seasons there. Somehow, I can’t appreciate romance while sitting outside in lawn chairs in the midst of winter. Too many years working Alaska, I guess ;)
February 14, 2014 at 07:39
Wonderful winter shots.
February 14, 2014 at 08:08
I can’t think of a better way to do a skywatch! This is a truly wonderful way to celebrate winter and the snow. So calm and peaceful. I’m so sorry we didn’t have any snow this winter.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you! Hope you have a lovely day. :-)
Best regards from us, big pat for Oscar

These are gorgeous! A Narnia landscape … I can’t believe that it was all over in the blink of an eye this year. How fortunate that you were there to capture it for us.
February 14, 2014 at 12:54
February 14, 2014 at 13:03
I think I want to keep the romancing by the fireplace or at least snuggled on the sofa and not on the ice, but I just love these pictures like always!
February 14, 2014 at 15:36
I wish I could do that. Gorgeous place.
February 14, 2014 at 15:40
I love that beautiful pink tinge… and how it contrasts the icy blue snow.
Winter beauty. Seems like a different world. A world without rain!
Nuts in May

February 14, 2014 at 17:09
A beautiful view indeed !
February 14, 2014 at 17:55
Even if those intrepid fisher people didn’t catch anything, they could still enjoy that amazing view. So much snow here in CO and more on the way – it’s been a record year for us.
February 14, 2014 at 19:03
you still have snow? Ours melted away. :(
February 14, 2014 at 20:39
Romantic views to enjoy with your loved one.
February 14, 2014 at 20:44
the magic of transforming a cold place in a warm place, beautiful!
February 14, 2014 at 22:00
You capture the cold so well, I’m sitting here in California chilled to the bone. I hope there’s some hot-buttered rum waiting in that little red cabin. :)
February 15, 2014 at 01:32
Such a wonderful picture. So different from here. I live in a rain forest. I could never capture the mystery and the romance of a land of snow…you are the goddess of snow.
February 15, 2014 at 06:19
Just delightful. I would love to sit there too, soaking up the beauty of the world around.
February 15, 2014 at 06:29
The scene of the snow is awesome. The sky is also great.
February 15, 2014 at 06:31
Beautiful snow Pictures!
We have none and only dark skies…..hope for some sun soon.

February 15, 2014 at 11:10
Such a beautiful, soft sky and lovely view – definitely worth braving the cold to enjoy! (And if it gets TOO cold, one can always cuddle with Oscar!)

You make winters look beautiful! Lovely photographs!
February 15, 2014 at 18:11
I’d have to out my chairs on a boat right now!

February 16, 2014 at 03:15
