Grey matters

Sometimes winter wants to rest

– Not in a burst of colours –

But in silken tones of pearl.

There is a subdued beauty

In the grey –

And, just as in life, the grey

Contains a promise of light and colour.

  7. I like your wording “silken tones of pearl”. Beautiful photos of subdued colors where I can see more possibilities or promises when there are little choice. The second one looks like an Indian-ink painting.

  62. I can’t say as I blame winter for taking a break from her extravagantly colorful displays. It’s exhausting to be brilliant and dazzling every day! :-) It took me quite a long time to appreciate how restful grey is. No doubt I could have shortened that considerably had I known about your blog years ago. :-)

    December 13, 2013 at 18:25
