Floating in the pink

Winter’s freezing dawn

Creates an abstract work of art;

Pink, purple, winter

Trees rise ghostly

In deliciously cold lilac dresses;

Mist and ghostly trees

And the ancient church

Floats in clouds of pink.

Cold and startling and beautiful –

Another gift from nature.

Freezing cold pink fog

  3. Nice colours! The soft tones really make these photos! I like your use of vignettes too! Is that edited in or is it original?

    • I’ve upped the contrast a little as I shoot in RAW but notice that there is a faint vignette even in the original.

  4. It is wonderful that you can make the wide open spaces of your Northern landscape into works of delicate art when ‘Nordic Drama’ on my TV makes it seem that there is nothing but doom and gloom and darkness.

  5. It is amazingly beautiful.

  13. Don

    Fiona’ do you know what causes that kind of light? The light where you live always fascinates me. Perhaps it’s a stupid question. But as I say I’m always fascinated by it.

  37. Re your comment, ladyfi: England isn’t quite as incapable of dealing with the snow as it seems from my post. It’s just us who can’t get out because our drive is on a slope and another hump and another slope and through a field. You can’t see the edges of the field and the humps ice up. we don’t have a 4×4, which would make getting out a lot easier. The road through the village gets cleared – eventually – and we’d be okay if we could get to it.

    January 24, 2013 at 18:12

    • So glad to hear that!

It is totally an alien world, a world i cannot touch, cannot feel, cannot reach! I wonder why i was not born in such climes, but I am not complaining, as ours i think is the best!
