Pushing the limits

Yesterday the temperature dropped down to minus 25 C

In the frosted early morning.

I went out on the ice – but stayed out way too long -

One and a half hours… With no breakfast.

Bright view copy

Came back with a frost damaged face

And spent the rest of the day in bed sick.

Just goes to show that you shouldn’t

Be bound by your limits –

But you should know what your limits are!

Thank you in advance for your kind comments – I won’t be replying to them today

As I need to recover.

  4. O my goodness! I did not realise that this could happen! But I guess frost on the face is like a burn! And that can make you sick too! Hope it all settles soon for you! Love the beautiful photo of all that snow touched with light and a beautiful dog clearly enjoying the moment!

  7. Your poor, poor face. I do hope that it, and you, recover quickly. These are beautiful images – but not worth damaging yourself over.

  10. Geez ! minus 25 ° C ! The maximum we ever had in the middle of Belgium was – 15 °C ! With these temperatures you have to cover your face like a bank robber, black and only the eyes visible ! We had – 6° this morning which is already quiet cold because some people are not equipped for such temperatures ! It also snows and we are stuck home !

  13. Hope you feel better soon. Gosh, that temperature is brutal. I was sick a couple of weeks ago too, and I’m sure it was due to being out for several hours photographing egrets on a cold, damp day. Take care!

  22. This has happened to me more times than I can count. If only we could magically transport ourselves back to our warm home the moment we realize we’ve overstayed our endurance! It’s the trek back that gets us. :-) You and Oscar stay cozy and feel better soon, and meanwhile we’ll enjoy your beautiful snowscape photo and what you suffered to get it!

  36. Fiona, I’m so sorry, but honey, that weather is not fit for man nor beast for longer than 15 minutes. Your photos show the brutal beauty of the cold. I hope you feel a lot better really soon. That face is too pretty not to protect it!!!!

    January 20, 2013 at 20:32

  40. I thought you’d have learned from my own mistakes! I’m still recovering from my Jan 3 fiasco! Hope at least Oscar didn’t freeze his feet. Feel better soon. Apply lots of non-allergetic lotion to the face. It takes awhile to heal!

Haven’t had frost bite in years. Hurts like……well you know. Arctic blasts, give beautiful light they can be silently dangerous.

    January 21, 2013 at 02:46

  48. Yikes! Be careful out there!

    January 21, 2013 at 02:53

  49. Oh goodness! That is dangerously cold to be out for so long. I hope you are okay.
We’ve got down to 20 below F (I think that’s about 29 below C) for a couple days and not expected to even reach zero F for days. It can look beautiful and sunny, but it is downright crispy out there. Be careful!!

There is a time I thought I was only going to be a few minutes and end up being outside for sometime. However I was not able to stand such cold as minus 25 C! I just can’t imagine what minus 25C is like. Please take good care of yourself. Keep my fingers crossed you’ll get well soon.

Oh yes, it looks very cold indeed.;) Hope you have recovered by now.;) Snow covered landscape is stunning though, I rather take the cold and the sunshine, then grey dreary weather – at any time.;)
