Ogden Nash once declared that a door is what a dog is always on the wrong side of.

Or, in this case, a window.

Not any old window, but the neighbours’ igloo window.

I sat there (in the igloo) for a while – just enjoying the tail end of the day…

  14. Beautiful shot of Oscar posing by the window.

    January 22, 2011 at 20:16

  15. Oh, Fi – Oscar looks as though he’s pondering the situation. Also – is that the tail end of a muffin along with Oscar’s tail end?

    January 22, 2011 at 20:29

    • Not a muffin – it’s a ceramic turtle that is decorating the window of the igloo.

Just love the tail shot…so funny! I still think you must have the coolest neighbours with a personal igloo!! SO COOL!

    January 22, 2011 at 20:35

  17. That pretty well illustrates the tail end!

Really, an igloo? Built for or by the kids? Our sons, when they were Boy Scouts, used to go winter camping occasionally and they learned how to build a snow cave to stay warm. (In the Mountains in Oregon near where we used to live; I don’t imagine it ever was anywhere near as cold as you get in the winters, but too cold for me.)

    January 22, 2011 at 22:30

    • Our next door neighbour built this igloo in his front garden for his kids. Naturally, it’s a magnet for all the kids – and dogs (and the occasional adult) in the neighbourhood!

  25. Excellent capture and great pun! Makes my yearn for an igloo, but alas, I’m too far south for that experience.

    January 23, 2011 at 04:06

  27. I love the first one !! the dog looks poised

    January 23, 2011 at 06:52

  28. Didn’t he want to get in? Mine wouldn’t be content before he’d torn the igloo down and scrambled in onto my lap! Nice shots!

    January 23, 2011 at 11:16

    • Yes, he was desperate to get in but it was too difficult to hop in through the window and the kids had shut the igloo door. He gave up and waited patiently outside the window instead!

      January 23, 2011 at 11:44

  29. Beautiful

    January 23, 2011 at 13:31

  30. Think about it..how many people can actually write about SITTNG IN AN IGLOO?!?!
    Totally cool!

    January 23, 2011 at 13:55

  31. Oh, those beautiful golden faces. So lovely. Makes me sad because we just lost our old gentleman. But he’s doing what goldens do best enjoying life and your photos are great. I can see why you stayed to watch.

    January 23, 2011 at 13:55

  32. I love these images – the contrast of white and golden.:) Trying to figure out what is inside the igloo on the other shot, but I guess toys of some sort.;)
As for my new camera, it is a Canon PowerShot G12. And I love it.;)
    Have a wonderful Sunday evening,
    xoxo

  33. Your neighbor’s “igloo?” Seriously? I’d enjoy seeing that sweet face through any window.

    January 23, 2011 at 23:29

  34. So cute! When it warms up we have plans to build something like this with all this snow we have…it’s gotta be good for something! :)

    January 24, 2011 at 02:50

  35. This is so cute! I’d love to see an outside shot of the igloo too!

    January 24, 2011 at 02:55

  36. What a lovely dog! I can relate to the saying, my pooches drive me nuts wanting in and out and in and out. The igloo looks nice too.

    January 24, 2011 at 05:20

  37. A beautiful portrait!

    January 24, 2011 at 11:40

  38. That’s one serene and pensive looking animal. And building an igloo seems like a great use for all that snow.

    January 24, 2011 at 12:39

  39. LoL! Adorable! =)

    January 24, 2011 at 17:54

    January 26, 2011 at 02:35

  45. Excellent photos and a really fun post! Was poor Oscar not allowed inside? Or perhaps he just didn’t want to be inside.

    January 26, 2011 at 16:21

    • The igloo was full of kids – so no room for him!

      January 26, 2011 at 18:44

  46. I can’t believe I missed this one. I loved sitting in “igloos” and snow forts as a kid. I’d read in them and everything.
I need to try this again now ;)

    January 27, 2011 at 14:17
