Diving in to meet yourself halfway
Let yourself be silently drawn
by the stronger pull of what you really love. — Rumi
This picture reminds me of the way we should, perhaps, live our lives: with joy, mouth open, eyes full of expectation.
Diving into the unknown and expecting wonder.

Looks like he’s having fun!
August 28, 2010 at 17:54
Sometimes it’s good to just throw yourself forwards with abandon
August 28, 2010 at 18:06
Seeing a dog swim or chase a stick into the water is a truly delightful sight. There is something graceful, but also gunho about their swimming strokes.
August 28, 2010 at 18:20
That is one dog who loves to frolick!
August 28, 2010 at 18:52
Yeah……. I agree…..
its just that I can’t swim! LOL!

Oh! To have the heart and perfect sensibility of a Dog. A wonderful shot, Fi.
August 28, 2010 at 19:31
Leaping in with all four feet!
What a great shot, by the way – to get the picture just before the almighty splash I’m sure is imminent!
August 28, 2010 at 21:52
Great pic of the dog in midair.
August 28, 2010 at 22:28

August 29, 2010 at 01:56
Dogs are really good reminders of how to live life. A very moving pic. no pun intended.
August 29, 2010 at 03:17
Great sentiment!
August 29, 2010 at 03:52
Love it! You have wonderful timing. Great photo.
August 29, 2010 at 04:02
beautiful…..!!!
August 29, 2010 at 08:02
Wonderful – and even better when they come out and shake all over you or simply brush past. By the end the humans are as wet as the dog/s (almost)
August 29, 2010 at 10:27
Dogs are like kids Fi – they mix well with water – Dave
August 29, 2010 at 10:57
Wonderful action shot! A real leap of faith just for the adrenalin rush!
August 29, 2010 at 11:22
If only we, as humans, were so uninhibited…..
August 29, 2010 at 11:27
Oh most definately! Mind – you certainly did when you left the UK to embark on your adventure! Hats off to you! I moved away from home to teach in Nottingham for 10 years – returning here to Yorkshire when dad died – met my husband and here we still are!
Having dogs I loved this picture!
Nice to meet you – my CC is rural!

A great shot of doggie happines
August 29, 2010 at 13:56
Looks like he is doing a Krypto pose. Super-pic.
August 29, 2010 at 15:04
Wonderful photo!
August 29, 2010 at 15:37
Looking at the photograph, it is quite easy to get the impression that the water is made of glass and that the front paws are just touching said glass, giving the poor dog a nasty surprise. Not to be a pessimist, because I’m not, but those are also part of life. The nasty surprises, I mean.
All the best,
Bellis

Yes, that is a great way to approach life, I agree.
August 29, 2010 at 20:31
So true. Now, if that was a photo of me, I’d still be testing the water with one toe!
August 29, 2010 at 23:11
Pure joy!

What a fantastic picture!!
August 30, 2010 at 10:04
Wonderful picture……and to your comment on how we ought to approach life….all I could think of, seeing the picture, was how cold the water looked (so much for my approach to life)
August 30, 2010 at 10:32
Yep, we must always dive in and not waste time worrying or being feeble. Strike out strike out – or jump in jump in as Oscar might say.
August 30, 2010 at 14:13
Fun photo. Our dog loves the water too–he would be diving in alongside your friend.
August 30, 2010 at 16:17
Great shot…. I expect there was a very nice ‘splash’ as he hit the water? Ha ha ha

There is a Chinese story:
Dog steals a bone from the butcher,
At the bridge, he sees his own reflection which he mistakes to be a rival dog, He snarls at the rival and drops the bone.
He loses the bone.
You have provided the photo for this story.

Oh yes, I agree. And I often think exactly that when I’m out walking with my own golden retriever – the Happiness Guru!
