Pet pride

Saturday saw the Stockholm Pride parade wending its way through the capital city of Sweden.

Your faithful reporter was there to record it all for you.

Most of the floats or groups were made up of people, but the Swedish Kennel Club was also there.

In various shapes and sizes.

Dangerously manicured poodles brought a bride along…

… while a more sedate one looked lovingly up at her owner as if to say, “When will this 90s music end?”

Meanwhile, a pair of panting corgis decked in heavy pink scarves waddled on stubby legs after elegant afghans and dancing disco queens.

Loud music, lots of balloons and plenty of rainbows … and not a drop of rain – made it a pretty good day for a parade.

Hahahaha at the “hope those poor dogs were wearing earplugs” tag: my ears are still ringing from the inhumanly high sound levels!

As any fashiion consciuos gal knows, it’s all about choicing the right accessories. Great way to photograph a large public event from another prespective.

    • Yes, they were very happy, although it was muggy and the music might have been a bit loud for them… They got a long walk too.

  26. Those poodles have an amazing hairdresser. Our President pays several hundred dollars for each haircut. Maybe he should go to their groomer. I’d like to see him in something like those dogs are wearing. Now THAT would be interesting.

  27. Now that is a hairdoo. We had a dog show here this weekend and saw some wild pooch haircuts as well.

  32. Wow, what is that saying about people looking like their dogs? :)

    August 3, 2010 at 22:59

  33. The bride and her dog totally make the saying “people look like their dogs” seem very very true!

    August 4, 2010 at 01:48

  34. lovely dogs,
    fun parade in sight.

    August 5, 2010 at 15:06

  35. What great shots. The bride and poodle look as if they should be on a magazine cover somewhere. It’s lucky it didn’t rain, although those Corgis would have probably enjoyed the cooler weather with scarfs that heavy.

  36. We were there! On our way back from the VassaMuseum. Had a great time but did not see the dogs – my girls would have loved that. Esp. over mom & dad dragging them thru museums (though they enjoyed the Vassa!). Fun Pic’s.
