It’s a stick-out!
Giraffes are tall: the tallest mammals in the world, in fact. With legs that go up and up and up.

They also have very, very long tongues. A giraffe tongue can be up to 21 inches or 53 cm long.
But I do believe that the tongue of my dog, Oscar …

… comes a close second!

What I always wonder is where he puts it all when he’s finished with it? Does it fold away, or roll up like a roller-blind? :-p

Yeah, I’d like to know the same thing, what does he do with all that tounge when it’s not hanging out??? Bet he makes a mess when drinking water with that big ol’ tounge!! Still a cute little furry face…

It’s a great cooling aid! Shame about the puddles dogs’ tongues leave, more so when they’re slaking their thirst – still, it’s one way of washing the kitchen floor!

ROFL! Too cute! He just looks happy as can be!

Haha~ The tongue looks longer in the first picture than it does in the second. You should try measuring it.

How lovely is Oscar!
August 23, 2009 at 14:13
Awww. I love Oscar. I think B could give him a run for his money in the tongue length department, though, and she’s just a little bitty thing!

It certainly is a long tongue. Gene Simmons for Kiss might be a little envious.

I love giraffes ;–)
I suspect you could be right about Oscar’s tongue. It certainly IS a long one isn’t it? Molly thinks she’d like to play with Oscar.
Hugs and blessings,

I think he’s way cuter too and probably would fit on my bed a lot easier. YOu are giving him to me right?
August 24, 2009 at 04:35
He is cute, reminds me of my dearly departed Bjørn. We was a big sweet tongue licky dog, too.

Did you know that you can buy a dog fetch toy called Humunga tongue? It looks like a massive tongue hanging out of the dogs mouth….don’t think your dog need one….he’s got a long tongue already!!
